Sanitizers
Sanitizers are the "main ingredient" of basic pool maintenance. Their role is to
keep the pool water clear and protected from bacteria. This is the first and most
important step of the BioGuard® 3-Step and Once-a-Week 3-Step Programs. BioGuard
Stabilized Chlorine is the most efficient form of chlorine available and offers continuous
protection against bacteria. Another efficient sanitizer, especially for indoor pools, is
BioGuard® Brominating Tablets.
Oxidizers
The process of oxidation is the second step in BioGuard's 3-Step Program. Oxidizers such
as Burn Out® WP and Burn Out® 35 super chlorinate the water and chemically destroy the
organic contamination that enters the water with bathers and environmental conditions.
BioGuard Lite™* quickly oxidizes contaminants such as suntan oils, cosmetics and
perspiration. It restores clarity to the water and gets you back in the pool in just 15
minutes. In addition, our oxidizers eliminate eye and nose irritation.
Algicides & Algae Solutions
Algae prevention is the third step in the BioGuard® 3-Step and Once-a-Week 3-Step
Programs. Because algae is one of the most common and troublesome pool maintenance
problems, we recommend prevention as the best cure. Use BioGuard Back Up® or BioGuard
Algae All 60™ to prevent algae growth. If you do have a problem with visible algae
growth - no matter what type algae it is - BioGuard offers a whole range of solutions. Our
algae products are available in both liquid and granular forms.
Balancers
BioGuard balancers are essential for an effective chemical treatment program. They include
products that control scale, prevent metallic stains, adjust the pH and total alkalinity,
and correct mineral imbalances.
Stain Preventors
Many fill water sources, especially from wells, contain trace amounts of metals such as
iron, copper and manganese. These can cause stains if untreated.
Cleaners and Water Enhancers
BioGuard® offers products that do everything from adding extra sparkle to the water to
keeping your filter operating at peak efficiency. We make a pool cover cleaner and
preservative, water clarifiers, tile and surface cleaners and products to deal with high
chlorine levels and foam. In addition, we offer a line of high quality vacuum hoses and
hand-held cleaning accessories.
Water Testing
Because frequent testing of the pool water is an important part of total pool maintenance,
BioGuard makes a selection of test kits, replacement reagents and test strips. Pool
Emporium, Inc. can also analyze your water for you in the store - free of charge. Remember
to replace reagents and check the expiration date of test strips at the beginning of each
season for the most accurate results.
SpaGuard® Products
Spa owners can now enjoy the same high quality of water care as pool owners. If your spa
is not connected to your pool's plumbing system, use BioGuard's SpaGuard line of spa care
products.
*BioGuard Lite has not been accepted by the U.S. EPA for use as a disinfectant,
sanitizer or algicide
